Departure Day is HERE!!!!!

Well, today’s the day. I woke up earlier than the rest of the family, just unable to sleep. I’m not sure if it’s because I’m excited, nervous, or simply had to eat. Probably all three.

We’ve got 12 checked bags, 4 carry ons, 2 carseats, 2 little boy backpacks, 2 pillows, and 1 kid carrier. The packing was not too bad there at the end. We were taking everything we had left, so “just get it to fit!” was my motto.

We’ve enjoyed good Mexican food, Starbucks, one last trip to Target, and loving on family and friends.

And we’re ready. At least as ready as we can be.

I was reading in 1 Peter 1 this morning, verse 13, “Therefore, preparing your minds for action, and being sober-minded, set your hope fully on the grace that will be brought to you at the revelation of Jesus Christ.” Set your hope fully. My hope is not found in finally getting to Kenya. It’s not finally having a home again. Or finally feeling like I know how to get around. It’s Jesus Christ.

Jesus is our hope. And He is with us NOW. He’s with us in the States, and He’ll be with us in Kenya. And when we go through security and customs. And when the kids fuss on the plane. And when I find a Starbucks in the airport one last time. He’s there.

So that’s what I’m focusing fully on over the next couple of days. That my identity in Christ is secure, He is with me, and nothing can change that.

If you think of us, please pray for continued good health, that all our luggage would be in Nairobi, that Robert and I would be patient with the boys the entire way, and that our family would be a source of peace everywhere we go.

Thanks to those of you who have prayed for us, loved on us, and helped us out in any way. We are so thankful for all of you and will miss you greatly.

And with that, let this part of the adventure begin!!!
